How are you actively and currently involved in same sex ballroom dance?
I have been actively involved in same-sex dancing for nearly 2 years and have competed in 2 Quakes, 2 RiverCities, and 2 April Follies as of this April. I am constantly motivated to continue and develop, in large part, because of the overwhelming support of the same-sex dance community. I feel compelled to give back and am excited by the prospect of joining NASSDPA to help further its mission of promoting and advocating for same-sex dancing.
What relevant leadership experience, such as serving on a board of a membership driven or non-profit organization and/or experience in helping to create such an organization, do you have?
From 1999 to 2011, I served as Music Director and Conductor of the San Francisco Civic Symphony Orchestra. In that role, I collaborated with the Board in developing Annual Budgets, Programing, Finance, and growing both Member and Audience participation. In my professional career, I have been a Hotel General Manager for the past 7 years. I have a good working knowledge and passion for developing Budgets, Sales and Marketing, Operations, Inspiring high performance in Employees and demonstrating innovation in guest satisfaction. I take my fiduciary responsibilities very seriously and conduct business with the same integrity as I would with my own personal finances.
