Debbie Esparza

Debra Esparza, AZ, USA

How are you actively and currently involved in same-sex partner dance?

I have been taking lessons for about a year and a half. I have participated in two same-sex competitions with my female professional instructor and I’m hooked! We most recently danced at the Provincetown Dance Trophy, where we were awarded a NASSPDA Championship. We are preparing to dance at the Gay Games in Paris, this August!
My intention would be to help promote same-sex dancing, particularly among amateurs.

What relevant leadership experience, such as serving on a board of a membership driven or non-profit organization and/or experience in helping to create such an organization, do you have?

I have extensive leadership experience in non-profit organizations. I am currently employed as a Sr. Executive at the Girl Scouts. I also serve on the board of Valley Leadership and am an active member of the Latina Giving Circle, both here in Phoenix. My volunteer / board experience goes back nearly 20 years – for local, statewide and national organizations, when I was living in California.
